Evolution of sedimentation in the Vistula Lagoon of the Baltic Sea due to anthropogenic impact

The work pursued basic objectives: to study the structure of sedimentary strata, identify sediment units corresponding specific sedimentation stages late Holocene and evaluate factors that influenced their formation in Vistula Lagoon. For achievement goals, well-known methods were used. thickness silt deposits was measured by a hand drill. grain size analysis bottom sediments determined mass content particles various sizes as percentage test sample mass. total amount organic matter loss during calcination weight method, determination mineral vivianite carried out standard accepted geology. Research results showed lower part cores, organic-rich silts olive shades are common, formed under influence river runoff. composition upper cores is sharply different due an anthropogenic factor – artificial runoff regulation. Instead silty sediments, lagoon accumulated poorly consolidated, dark gray fine sand siltstone with small matter.
